Don’t overlook the power of mirrors to transform your home! The right vanity can add another dimension to your bathroom! Hanging wall mounted light fixtures on top of your vanity mirrors can make the room look larger, and double the amount of light over your sink or countertop without doubling the amount of heat produced or electricity used.
Decorative beveled trim strips also add elegance to your existing mirrors, or can sometimes be used to cover mirror edges damaged by water. And guys, don’t forget: Every woman needs a full length mirror in her dressing space. For those who want to keep fit in a home gym, wall mirrors are a must.
Beveled Mirrors
Beveled mirrors add a touch of elegance to any room, and are made by grinding and polishing the glass edge of a mirror, creating a reflective plane around the perimeter of the glass. The beveled surface can be made in several widths. In today’s market , ¼” thick mirrors are most commonly used. However, bevel widths can range from ¼” to 1-1/2” thick.
Beveled mirrors can be hung on mirror clips, secured to the wall with molding, or installed using mirror mastic – an adhesive designed specifically for mirror installations. Framed beveled mirrors can be hung with mirror straps secured to the frame and anchored to the wall. We do not recommended hanging a framed mirror with picture frame wire, depending, of course, on the size and the weight.
When you decide to have a mirror installed in your home you should consider a few things. The first is the size of the mirror you want to hang on your wall. Handling large mirrors can be dangerous or may cause damage or injury if not hung properly. You’ll need to carefully plan how you’ll hang your mirror, and make sure the anchor type you use will work. Be careful laying out your anchor locations or you may leave unintended holes in your wall.
